I first started playing music at around five years old. My family had an upright piano and my dad was a working musician in Los Angeles. I fell in love with music at about twelve years of age. We had this old record player with subwoofers. Although the record player didn’t work, the FM picked up clear and quality signal.

I used to always browse through the Los Angeles Radio Stations. I didn’t realize at the time that I was listening to some of the best music in the world at that time. Disc Jockeys would play Earth, Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, The Gap Band, War, The Doobie Brothers, Lionel Richie, LTD, Michael Jackson, Al Green, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Hall and Oates, Prince, Elton John, Billy Joel, and Carlos Santana. I was so spoiled and didn’t even know it.

For the majority of my youth I was involved in sports. I played everything and was always outside. This took me away from music for awhile. When I finished playing football in college, I rekindled my first love. I went back to school and earned the equivalent of an Associates Degree in Music. I studied Jazz Piano for Four years under Bill Augustine.

I also began to DJ. I curated playlists of inspired music from my past as well as contemporary hits that would make people dance. I expanded my reach and my musicality. I dug in the crates and found artists like Bobby Womack, The Brothers Johnson, Teddy Pendegrass, Maze, Frankie Beverly, and Bobby Caldwell. I also learned about the contemporary greats like Usher, Chris Brown, Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke, Timbaland, and Aaliyah. Whenever I DJ I like to play the songs that have been sampled. It’s the perfect choice because it spans the generations. The older people love the song because they grew up hearing it and the younger dance to the song because they know the rhythm.

As a young performer, one of the best ways to play as a DJ was performing at weddings.

I enjoy being a part of the couples big day, getting the crowd involved, and making sure that everyone in the place is Dancing. I have been able to bring the party to many couples big day. It has been a fun journey. Click Soul DJ for a great mix. I always spin music that makes you groove.
